Producers have discussed bringing the eliminated couple back as a wildcard, according to Woman’s Day. Its unnamed source also floats a possible guest-judging role for Jane in a future series.
Neither idea is accompanied by an on-the-record confirmation from Seven, Jane or Shane in the article. There is no announced return episode or judging appointment.
A Second Helping Of Jane?
The NSW couple made themselves hard to miss on My Kitchen Rules, where Jane’s exacting opinions on food and presentation regularly put her at odds with other contestants. Her early dinner-table critiques set a fairly high bar for their own cook.
They ultimately scored 50 and were eliminated. As WHO’s account of their Instant Restaurant details, their duck egg custard and pigeon dishes ran into trouble, and the tomato sour dessert could not rescue the night.
Woman’s Day’s source argues that the couple’s ability to generate conversation could tempt producers to give them another appearance. The suggestions cover very different possibilities: a wildcard visit this season and a potential judging role later.
Colin Has Defended Jane
Colin Fassnidge has offered a kinder view of Jane than some of her tablemates. He told TV WEEK that they had known each other through the food industry for around 15 years, while stressing that she received the same treatment as everyone else.
His defence of Jane did not spare her cooking: he criticised the way the lean pigeon had been prepared.
A return would give Jane and Shane another chance to face the table they spent weeks critiquing. Whether Seven actually has that second invitation in mind remains unconfirmed.
