The Victorian contestant told Chattr that he spent several years doing high-fashion modelling after moving from the country to Melbourne for university.

Giancarlo Was A Teenage Runway Model

Giancarlo said he was only 17 or 18 when he started modelling, with much of his work connected to brands appearing at Melbourne Fashion Week.

He described it as a fun chapter from his younger years, or simply a "young kid being a young kid".

At 6'5, Giancarlo had the height to stand out. The problem was finding footwear that could keep up.

"I was a bit too tall to be a model," he joked, adding that his biggest issue was getting into the shoes.

Even Giancarlo Does Not Know How MKR Found Out

The modelling past became a dinner-table talking point on the show, but Giancarlo said he still has no idea who gave production the tip.

His best guess was that somebody had found an old photo. There is no scandal hiding behind the reveal, just a former runway model wondering how his teenage portfolio followed him into an Instant Restaurant.

Giancarlo is now competing alongside Tiffany, his partner of almost 20 years. The pair entered the season with a reputation for authentic Italian cooking, and their rivals were already nervous about them before they had served a single course. Their background and food story are covered in the full MKR 2026 cast guide.

He Has Plenty To Smile About In The Kitchen Too

The reveal arrived as Tiffany and Giancarlo became the team to beat. Their Melbourne Instant Restaurant earned 86 points, including the first perfect 10 of the season for their eggplant parmigiana.

Their dessert stumbled, and a rabbit bone in Deanne's pasta caused a shock at the table, but the couple still finished 14 points clear at the top of the leaderboard. The full night is unpacked in the Tiffany and Giancarlo Instant Restaurant recap.

From Melbourne Fashion Week to the MKR kitchen, Giancarlo has now found two very different ways to work a room.
