It was not exactly the low-key start to a new week that anyone on site was hoping for.

The Bathroom Result Is Still Haunting Everyone

Last week's bathroom judging was clearly still taking up plenty of mental real estate. Courtney and Sev's win had not gone down smoothly with the other teams, who were not convinced the pair should have taken the top spot.

Courtney and Sev, meanwhile, were looking forward. After two early wins, they wanted a third. The rest of the Blockheads had other ideas, and the race to find a point of difference for Main Bedroom Week was on.

Rick and Tayla thought they had one with a fireplace, until they discovered another house was heading in the same direction. Across the site, curves and arches were suddenly everywhere too. A distinctive room was becoming a rather crowded concept.

Adam and Jolene had a very different concern. Their struggle to lock in a plasterer threatened to leave them with a room that was unusual for all the wrong reasons.

A Shorter Week, Somehow More Work

Foreman Dan then delivered the news that a public holiday at the end of Ensuite Week would take a day out of an already difficult schedule. With wet weather also in the mix, the teams were allowed to make an early start on their ensuite floors.

That was useful in theory. In practice, it was another reminder that the site was about to become very busy, very quickly.

Courtney's Lunch Break Hits A Nerve

Courtney had plenty of trades to coordinate, and things boiled over when the flooring contractor wanted to take lunch at the same time as everyone else. Her concern was simple: the crew would be on top of each other once work resumed.

Dan described the exchange as 'heavy talking', which was a diplomatic way to put it. He was firmly pro-lunch break, while Courtney saw the timing as one more thing that could derail a room already packed with people and tasks.

When the workers returned and the space became crowded, the flooring work suffered. A curve in the carpet inlay did not land as cleanly as it should have, leaving Courtney with the sort of proof nobody wants after a worksite argument.

Her point was that a little more coordination could have avoided the bottleneck. On a build where every day is timed to the minute, a lunch break became a surprisingly expensive source of tension.

Then Came The $53,000 Reality Check

The bigger problem arrived when Dan and site manager Aidan sat Courtney and Sev down over the numbers. The pair spent $53,000 on their Family Bathroom last week, more than double the $30,000 budget allocated across the first two rooms.

That is a big number this early in the competition, particularly with the work only getting more demanding from here. Aidan warned that if the pace continued, the pair could be out of money by week five or six.

For a team chasing a three-from-three streak, it was a sharp reminder that winning rooms and funding a full renovation are not always the same thing. Courtney and Sev took the message on board, but their next moves will have to show whether the budget warning genuinely changes the way they build.

Wyatt Finally Deals With That Tooth

Elsewhere, Wyatt finally had his sore tooth removed after several days of complaints. It was a small win in comparison with the site's money and scheduling dramas, but no one was likely to object to one less health issue competing for attention.

By the end of the episode, Main Bedroom Week had already supplied rivalries, duplicated design ideas, a worksite clash and a genuine financial red flag. The rooms are only just taking shape, but Courtney and Sev's numbers have put a very large question mark over how much pressure the pair can absorb before the next reveal.
