A Woman's Day report has floated JLP as a possible host for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Australia when the show moves to Seven in 2027.
The report is based on unnamed insider claims, so nobody should start polishing the camp bell just yet. Seven has not announced JLP as host, and LaPaglia has not publicly confirmed he is taking the role.
Still, as reality TV rumours go, this one has enough moving parts to make fans sit up a little straighter.
Why The Rumour Has Legs
LaPaglia is suddenly one of the most discussed free agents in Australian reality TV. After a decade hosting Australian Survivor, he was replaced by David Genat for the franchise's next chapter, ending one of the more recognisable host runs on local television.
At the same time, I'm A Celebrity is preparing for a major move. The show is shifting from Network 10 to Seven for a 2027 relaunch, which means there is already curiosity around how much of the old format will stay intact.
Woman's Day claims the idea being discussed is not just JLP joining a double act, but potentially hosting solo. That would be a notable shift for the Australian version, which has traditionally leaned on host chemistry, from Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown through to Julia and Robert Irwin.
JLP would bring a very different flavour. His Survivor style was dry, controlled and deadpan, with just enough eyebrow energy to make a contestant regret every life decision without him needing to raise his voice.
A Solo Host Would Be A Big Change
The solo-host idea is probably the most interesting part of the rumour. I'm A Celebrity has always had a bit of variety-show bounce in Australia, with the hosts there to react, joke, prod and keep the whole jungle machine moving.
Putting one person at the front would change the rhythm. It could make the show sharper and a little less chatty, or it could leave fans missing the back-and-forth that has always softened the bugs, panic and celebrity meltdowns.
LaPaglia could suit that leaner version. He has years of experience talking to contestants under pressure, and he knows how to let a silence do some of the work. He also has the reality-TV goodwill that comes from being part of a format fans genuinely care about.
But this is still a rumour. The report says industry figures are talking about the possibility, not that a deal has been announced.
Fans Are Waiting On Seven
The big question now is how Seven wants to relaunch I'm A Celebrity. A new network home gives the show a chance to refresh its casting, tone, schedule and hosting setup, but it also puts pressure on Seven to make the handover feel deliberate rather than simply different.
JLP would be a bold choice because he comes with a built-in reality audience and a very specific hosting identity. Viewers know what he brings. They also know he is not a Julia Morris-style chaos conductor, which could be either the selling point or the sticking point.
Until Seven makes a call, this sits firmly in the speculation basket. A fun basket, admittedly. A basket with khaki shirts and a suspicious amount of jungle fog. But still a basket.
