The new season is currently in production, with John returning alongside Alessandra Rampolla after Mel's death earlier this year.
Speaking on the Logies red carpet, John said filming had been "bittersweet" without Mel on set, adding that it had been difficult at times while the team continued making the show.
Alessandra also acknowledged that the new season feels very different, but said the experts were focused on creating something new together.
MAFS 2027 Is Already Filming
The comments come as MAFS Australia begins filming its next batch of weddings, honeymoons, dinner parties and commitment ceremonies ahead of its expected 2027 run on Nine and 9Now.
The Sun reports that relationship commentator Brigitte Zonta, also known as Dr Lurve, is set to join the expert lineup, although Nine has not formally confirmed the full 2027 panel.
Mel had been part of the MAFS Australia expert team for years, becoming one of the show's most recognisable faces across its local and international success.
The next season is expected to air on Nine and 9Now in 2027.
