She confirmed the incident in Instagram comments, Woman’s Day says, after sharing a video from Chelsea Street Designs challenging the treatment she had received.

The designer said she met Jane when Jane visited her pop-up shop and bought a dress. Her defence focused on the person away from the dinner-table arguments, and on adults taking their reactions to a cooking show into real life.

In the video, the designer condemned the alleged spitting and urged adults to consider the example their online behaviour sets for their children.

Jane’s own caption alongside the clip thanked the women supporting her, brushing aside the people directing hate her way.

Jane Disputes How The Pigeon Dish Came About

She has also challenged the circumstances behind the dish that helped bring her competition to an end.

Jane and husband Shane left after their Instant Restaurant scored 50. Their master stock pigeon, served with chilli cucumber, samphire and shallot pancake, was criticised for being overcooked and dry.

Jane alleges they were “forced and coerced” into cooking it, despite repeatedly telling producers they had not managed to make it successfully and did not want it on their menu.

She said the failed dish had made her a target for criticism of her appearance, style and attitude.

A Friendship She Does Want To Keep

Amid the fallout, Jane has singled out fellow contestants Zoe and Zac as a positive part of the experience.

She said she and Shane had come away with little joy from their time on the show, but valued getting to know the pair. Her description of them as “warm, genuine souls” was considerably gentler than much of the conversation around that dinner table.
