The mother-daughter team told Chattr that the My Kitchen Rules table felt more relaxed with the couple cooking rather than critiquing.
Jane and Shane’s Lyst Haus finished on 50 points, below Alisha and Deanne’s 68. That sent the hosts home and kept their Adelaide rivals in the competition.
Relief At The Table, Sympathy For The Hosts
Lucy admitted some satisfaction after the couple’s earlier criticism. Their meal put them last on the leaderboard.
But Krysten had expected more given Jane’s food-styling background. She was shocked and felt sorry for the hosts, knowing the pressure they faced.
“We could just tell that they were imploding,” Krysten said.
Lucy recalled guests struggling to meet the hosts’ eyes. She said Jane and Shane also acknowledged how difficult the competition was.
The Pigeon Did Not Win Them Over
Krysten recalled scattered plating and chunky cucumber with the masterstock pigeon and shallot pancakes. Lucy struggled to remove the meat.
“I just about broke my tooth off trying to get any meat off it,” Lucy said.
Alisha and Deanne had their own unhappy dining experience. Speaking to Woman’s Day, Deanne said the duck-egg entrée initially looked appealing but disappointed on flavour. Alisha felt the plating fell short too, especially when the pigeon arrived with its head and feet.
The menu ended with a tomato sour dessert. For the Adelaide friends, the gap between expectations and what arrived was particularly striking after Jane’s criticism of their colourful plates.
They had already felt knocked down when rivals tipped them to be the first team eliminated. Surviving the round instead gave them a confidence boost, with Deanne saying they would feel less intimidated after seeing how much could go wrong for another team.
Alisha and Deanne now remain in the competition, while Jane and Shane’s Instant Restaurant became their last.
