This update is not about completely changing the website. Instead, it focuses on the smaller details that make the site feel smoother, clearer and easier to use day to day.

From cleaner menus and improved show browsing to a better feedback experience, v1.0.1 is all about polishing the Reality Recap experience now that the new site is live.

Quality Of Life Improvements

One of the biggest visible additions in this update is the new Shows page, which gives readers one place to browse the reality TV shows currently covered by Reality Recap.

The homepage Featured Shows section now links through to this page, making it easier to jump from the front page into the full show directory.

Show cards have also been refined. Network icons now appear on the posters, replacing the old channel text that appeared on hover. The posters also now have a subtle zoom effect, giving the show grid a cleaner and more consistent feel alongside article previews.

On the homepage, the Featured Articles section has been adjusted on mobile so headlines and excerpts are easier to scan on smaller screens.

The site also now defaults to light mode unless a visitor has specifically chosen dark mode. This should make first loads feel more consistent, especially for readers visiting from search or social links.

Menus have had a small polish pass too. When article previews are loading inside dropdowns, the site now shows loading placeholders instead of briefly displaying an empty message.

Finally, some search metadata has been improved, including clearer site-name information and a Google-friendly favicon reference. These changes should help search engines better recognise Reality Recap over time, although Google updates can still take a little while to appear.

Bug Fixes

Several smaller issues have also been fixed in v1.0.1.

The homepage View More button now remembers where readers were during their current browser session. If someone loads more stories, opens an article, and then goes back, the homepage should restore the expanded article list and return them to the same scroll position.

The Found an error? feedback form has also been improved. Previously, a submission could appear to stay stuck on Sending..., even if the feedback had been received. The form now shows a clear confirmation message once feedback has been submitted.

The confirmation message has also been polished with a clearer success panel, so readers know their feedback has gone through.

Article excerpts have been adjusted so formatted text, including italicised show titles, behaves more reliably and does not cut off the opening paragraph unexpectedly.

What Comes Next

v1.0.1 is a small update, but it helps settle the new Reality Recap website into a more polished place after launch.

More updates will continue to roll out over time as the site grows, more shows are added, and new ways to follow Australian reality TV are explored.
