In its upfront article, TV Blackbox said it understands filming is more likely to take place next year for a potential 2028 broadcast. Network 10 has not confirmed that timetable.

The absence of The Amazing Race Australia from the announced slate was also noted by TV Tonight, leaving the travel competition without a confirmed return date.

The 2026 Season Was Put On Hold

The uncertainty follows 10’s decision to drop the planned 2026 season from its schedule. A network spokesperson told TV Blackbox in January that several factors, including travel logistics, had affected the production.

At the time, 10 described the move as a pause rather than the end of the franchise, and said Beau Ryan would remain part of its on-air team.

The most recent season aired in 2025, when brothers Stephen and Bernard Curry won the celebrity edition. Viewers would be facing a substantial gap between seasons if the next race does not reach screens until 2028.

Ryan will have another role on 10 next year, with the network confirming him alongside Robert Irwin and Georgie Tunny for Australian Ninja Warrior.
