Cress pushed back on the idea that Marty is being positioned to take over from Scott, saying the host is not going anywhere.
The rumour had been circulating alongside wider talk about tension behind the scenes, with earlier reporting pointing to Scott not following Marty on Instagram while following other judges.
That is very modern gossip arithmetic: one follow, one non-follow, divide by several seasons of reality TV, and suddenly everyone is measuring curtains for a new host.
But Cress's public response keeps the story firmly in rumour territory. Scott remains the face of The Block, and Marty remains part of the judging panel.
Shaynna Blaze Rumours Were Also Dismissed
Cress also addressed rumours that Scott was feuding with longtime judge Shaynna Blaze.
He described claims about Scott and Shaynna being at each other's throats, or one of them resigning, as "just ridiculous", and said they are great friends.
He also found a silver lining in the whole cycle, saying the fact people are still making up stories about The Block shows the series remains click-worthy after 22 seasons.
That might be the most producer response possible: annoyed by the rumour, quietly delighted by the traffic, and absolutely aware that people still cannot stop talking about this show.
