On The Block, every team was trying to finish a kitchen, butler's pantry, powder room and lift before tools down. That is already a lot of pressure. Add Rick's injured knee, a huge prize and five teams who had spent the week peering over one another's fences, and the meeting about two extra hours was never going to stay polite.

The Body Corporate Blows Up

Rick and Tayla were the team most in need of an extension. Rick was still dealing with his knee infection, their kitchen was behind and Tayla called the meeting hoping the others would agree to let everyone keep working.

Lisa and Rosco were willing to help, but Adam and Jolene, Chantel and Wyatt, and Courtney and Sev said no. Jolene was particularly unimpressed by the argument that Rick's injury should change the rules, and accused Tayla of not being on site enough. Her verdict was blunt: Tayla was being 'a brat'.

The request failed, which meant no extra time for anyone. By the next morning, even some of the teams who voted against it were feeling the squeeze as they decided what had to be left unfinished.

The 'Cheating' Fight Has No Winner

The debate also revived the paint-roller drama from the previous episode. Tayla raised footage of Tim from British Paints working in Courtney and Sev's house, but Courtney and Sev said the work was legitimate and it did not become a cheating scandal.

It was hardly a calming moment for a site already carrying plenty of suspicion. Courtney and Sev had already pushed back on the claim, and Kitchen Week ended with neither side suddenly becoming best mates.

Five Kitchens, Five Very Different Reactions

Adam and Jolene's kitchen landed exactly as they wanted. The judges loved the island facing the view, with Marty Fox calling the layout one of the best kitchens he had seen in nearly 20 years. Darren Palmer was taken by the elegant details, while the small tapware and door-placement complaints were not enough to derail an otherwise glowing visit.

Chantel and Wyatt had the opposite kind of day. Their kitchen had a strong listing shot and impressive finishes, but the judges thought it felt cold. The sink in the middle of the island also clashed with the sleek look they were chasing, while an unfinished powder room earned a particularly sharp response.

Lisa and Rosco's risks mostly paid off. Shaynna Blaze loved the stone, arches and dark oak cabinetry, and the giant island bench won plenty of praise for being both dramatic and usable. Their powder room was the snag, with the tile and paint choices leaving the judges less convinced.

Courtney and Sev brought $250,000 worth of appliance upgrades into House 4, and the judges agreed they had made the commercial-scale kitchen feel polished. The hidden second sink and pantry doors raised eyebrows, but the powder room was a standout, with Shaynna naming it her favourite of the day.

Rick and Tayla finally gave the judges a room they could rally behind. Their backlit splashback, curved island and bold powder room earned real praise, and Shaynna said it was their best room so far. The incomplete pantry paint hurt them, though. Marty thought it could have been his kitchen of the day if they had just had a little more time.

Adam And Jolene Take The Money

Adam and Jolene finished on 30 points, ahead of Lisa and Rosco on 28.5, Courtney and Sev on 27.5, Rick and Tayla on 25.5, and Chantel and Wyatt on 23. Their bonus-point gnome was not even needed, with the pair winning by 1.5 points and taking the $100,000 prize.

Next up, the teams move on to laundry and rumpus rooms, but the friction from that body corporate meeting is clearly coming with them.

The Block continues tonight at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.
