Rick and Tayla, Lisa and Rosco, and Courtney and Sev have opened up about the uncertainty ahead of the sales in a New Idea interview. After last year's difficult auction, nobody is pretending a profit is guaranteed.

Rick And Tayla Know Nothing Is Certain

Rick said there are "always fears" about the result, adding that the teams could all walk away with nothing. He also described the market as scary, which is probably the most relatable response imaginable when the end result depends on buyers, bidding and a very expensive house.

Still, Rick has faith in House Five. He believes its larger floor plan gives the pair a strong position, while stopping short of predicting a win. It is the classic Block balance of confidence and terror, with a little real-estate maths thrown in.

Lisa And Rosco Are Backing Their House

Lisa and Rosco were just as clear-eyed about the possibility of no profit, but said they would not change anything about their house. The pair told the outlet they cannot control what happens at auction and are confident in what they have created.

They also pointed out that the experience has value beyond the final sale. That does not make the pressure disappear, of course. After months of budgets, deadlines and room reveals, it would be devastating to see all that work sit unsold.

Last Year's Auction Is Still On Everyone's Mind

Courtney and Sev said it was awful to watch two homes go unsold at the 2025 auction. For them, though, getting onto the show was already a dream realised after years of applying.

Sev described the build and the auction as separate competitions, which feels like a sensible way to approach a finale no contestant can completely control. The pair are thrilled to have made it onto the show, even if they are hoping the 2025 result does not become their own auction-day story.

An official date for the 2026 auction has not yet been announced. Until then, the teams can keep working on their houses, keep backing their choices and try not to imagine the bidding room too often.
