The personal trainer left the building site after clashing with partner Chantel over an unpackaged bedhead, choosing a gym session while she continued working on their room. It was not the first time his escape route had led straight to a workout.
Rick And Tayla Say The Couple Did Not Fight Constantly
Rick and Tayla said they did not regularly see Chantel and Wyatt fighting when the cameras were not focused on them. Most contestants were too busy trying to finish their own rooms to keep tabs on every disagreement happening elsewhere on site.
That did not stop the pair from having a cheeky dig at Wyatt's dramatic exit. Tayla joked that he may have hurt his toe before losing his temper, while Rick said Wyatt had created a difficult public image for himself through his behaviour on the show.
Asked by Chattr about the real Wyatt, Rick offered a much softer verdict: "He's a nice bloke."
Rick also described him as a big "kid trapped in a 30-year-old's body", before Tayla agreed that his on-screen portrayal was not coming across "too strong".
There Is Still Tension Around The Workload
Rick's defence came with a sharp qualification. He was unhappy after Wyatt suggested that Rick's daughter Tayla would leave teammate Spence to handle most of their work, and fired back that the Cursio Brothers did much of the heavy lifting at Chantel and Wyatt's house.
Lisa has voiced a similar criticism, arguing that gym time was a priority for House Two and questioning whether Chantel and Wyatt could have completed their rooms without the Cursios. Chantel has dismissed that claim.
The debate has followed Wyatt across several episodes. A toothache previously took him away from the build and towards the gym, while his latest departure left Chantel to face Scott Cam and Shelley Craft without him.
Chantel Says Wyatt Is Different At Home
Chantel has spoken warmly about their relationship away from The Block, describing Wyatt as a supportive partner and an involved stepdad to her children.
She said they encourage each other to grow and already have plans for life after the show, including buying a home near the beach and travelling with the children.
Their castmates are not pretending every on-screen moment has been flattering. Rick and Tayla's account paints Wyatt as immature at times, sensitive to criticism and capable of pushing other contestants' buttons.
It also leaves room for the possibility that the gym-loving contestant seen storming away from House Two is only one version of him. The next room deadline, naturally, will decide how long that gentler verdict survives.
