As TV WEEK reported ahead of The Traitors Australia finale, Kirby said taking on the role of a Traitor left her exhausted and stressed. The Survivor favourite said the pressure got to her while she was trying to stay one step ahead of the Faithfuls.
That is quite the confession from someone who has looked cool-headed through one of the season's messiest games. Kirby said she was asked to lie throughout the experience, despite being someone who hates dishonesty in ordinary life.
A Very Different Game Persona
Kirby said her values away from television are the opposite of the character she had to play in the manor. The strategy may have been fun to watch, but it meant constantly managing conversations, suspicions and the fallout from every decision.
Her background as a professional athlete helped her compartmentalise the pressure, but she also said there were uncomfortable conversations once filming ended. That is the less glamorous side of a game built around betrayal.
With the finale bringing every alliance under the microscope, Kirby's comments add another layer to the season's big question: how much of yourself can you leave at the manor door when the game asks you to deceive everyone around you?
