By the end of the two-night Quarter Final, Richard Marx, Melanie C, Ronan Keating and Kate Miller-Heidke had each chosen two artists to continue. The next round is now close enough to taste, which is when every song choice starts to feel like a very large life decision.

Daisha Turns Kate's Risk Into A Semi-Final Spot

Daisha took on Janelle Monáe's 'Tightrope' after Kate Miller-Heidke had already used her save to keep her in the competition. It was the latest turn in a winding journey that began with Daisha choosing Ronan after a four-chair Blind Audition.

Richard Marx questioned whether 'Tightrope' was the right fit, but Kate backed the choice and Daisha's performance sent her through.

Ronan Keating praised Daisha's stage presence, while Richard said she had delivered even as he challenged the song selection. Kate argued that the performance showed a new side of Daisha's artistry.

It was the kind of gamble that could have looked reckless in hindsight. Instead, Daisha met the moment and locked in one of Team Kate's two places.

Charlotte Casts A Spell Over The Coaches

Charlotte June made the other Team Kate position difficult to argue with. She transformed Fred again.. and Obongjayar's 'adore u' into a ballad and drew one of the biggest reactions of the Quarter Finals.

Richard called it the best performance of the season, while Kate described Charlotte's delivery as breathtaking and magnificent. Charlotte joined Daisha in the Semi Final, giving Kate two very different artists and a delightfully difficult decision waiting in the next round.

Melanie's Team Finds Its Final Two

Yung Milla brought The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar's 'Pray For Me' to the stage and once again had Melanie C fighting back tears. His run began with a four-chair Blind Audition, where he rapped his brother's song before choosing Melanie as his coach.

Melanie spoke about the power of what Yung Milla represented and how strongly his performances continued to affect her. By this point, getting through one of his songs without an emotional coach reaction might have been the bigger surprise.

Taylor Beadle-Williams claimed the second Team Melanie C place after tackling Whitney Houston's 'I'm Every Woman'. Taking on Whitney in a Quarter Final is not exactly the low-risk route, but Taylor's vocals and artistry were enough to complete Melanie's final pair.

The Semi-Final Is Set

The four Monday-night qualifiers join Team Richard's Tika Cetinich and Tommy Novak, plus Team Ronan's Leyla Sabo and The 60Four.

Tika earned her place after taking on Heart's 'Alone', with Richard praising how far she had come in the competition. Tommy performed Phil Collins' 'Against All Odds' and was pushed to show more vulnerability before Richard backed his growth and commitment.

Twelve-year-old Leyla answered questions about whether she was ready for the pressure after singing Demi Lovato's 'Skyscraper'. She insisted music was what she wanted to pursue, and Ronan sent her through.

The 60Four took a contemporary swing with sombr's '12 to 12'. The performance divided the coaches, but Ronan remained convinced by the group's voices and chose them to complete his pair. It continued a handy second life in the competition after Melanie let the group go during the Knockouts and Ronan swooped in with a save.

That leaves Team Richard with Tika and Tommy, Team Melanie C with Taylor and Yung Milla, Team Ronan with Leyla and The 60Four, and Team Kate with Charlotte and Daisha.

The Quarter Finals also ended the journey for Phoebe Rose, Jack Hughes, Victoria Knight, Jamie Koul, Wave Raiders, Cleo Paladino and Bertie Anderson. Eight singers and groups remain, and the Semi Final will cut the field again before the Grand Finale.
