Thursday’s Love Island Australia picks up with two boys attempting damage control, two women running out of patience and Oli quietly working on a much more practical seduction strategy. His secret weapon? A cup of tea.
Two Apologies, Very Different Prospects
Jack has some explaining to do after kissing Sammi and leaving Nat feeling sidelined. The bombshell’s arrival has scrambled his priorities, and Nat is hardly thrilled to have become an afterthought.
Over in the other uncomfortable conversation, Jordan is apologising to Layla for leaving out the intimate details of his photo-booth encounter with Amanda. An omission like that was always going to make for a fairly short peace summit.
Neither apology gets a warm reception. Both women walk away unimpressed, but the relationships land in different places: Jack and Nat still have something to work with, while Jordan and Layla are finished.
Jack Makes His Own Situation Worse
With Sammi attracting attention, Jack has competition. Oli makes his interest clear and gets her tea order sorted the night before, ready for a morning delivery. A small gesture, yes, but at least this man has considered what happens after bedtime.
Jack, meanwhile, sleeps with Nat, with Sammi just two beds away. Given he is also hoping to explore a connection with the bombshell, it is a decision with an extremely short distance to travel before becoming a problem.
By morning, Nat’s concern is her family watching. “My mum is going to kill me,” she says. Fair enough. Some television moments are less suited to the family group chat than others.
Jack is worried about a different audience. He wonders whether his night with Nat will change how Sammi sees him and whether she will still want to get to know him. He has managed to give the woman he is pursuing a very clear reason to hesitate.
Oli Gets The Morning Right
While Jack deals with the aftermath, Oli follows through with Sammi’s tea and takes her for a chat in the secret garden. He even lets his hair down, giving the morning a little more effort than the usual sleepy Villa debrief.
The conversation includes Sammi mentioning that her best friend lives in Tasmania, which she seems to think is conveniently close to Oli in Perth. That is quite a generous definition of nearby, but geography does not appear to be slowing the chat down.
For Jack, the timing is becoming harder to defend. He regrets sleeping with Nat so soon after meeting Sammi and suggests he needs to “zip tie my shorts on”. An ambitious addition to the wardrobe, although the useful moment for restraint has already passed.
Nat Takes It Straight To Sammi
Sammi does not let Jack glide past the contradiction. She questions his morals if he wants to get to know her while continuing to sleep with Nat. It puts his actions, and the way he is treating both women, firmly in the conversation.
When Nat hears about their chat, she does not pull Jack aside for another explanation. She goes directly to Sammi and makes it clear that she and Jack have a strong connection.
It does little to settle where anyone stands. Nat is defending a relationship Jack is still looking beyond, Sammi is questioning whether he is worth pursuing, and Oli has given himself an opening without needing an apology speech.
There is no neat resolution before the week ends. Jack’s choices have left the triangle tangled, Jordan and Layla are done, and Oli’s morning tea is looking like one of the more sensible decisions anyone has made.
Love Island Australia continues Monday at 8.40pm on Nine, with the episode available from 10.00am AEDT on 9Now.
