The fresh arrivals were already testing the couples on Love Island Australia. Now the Villa had a game that gave everyone a very convenient excuse to act on those wandering eyes.
Lachie Takes The Revenge Route
Jordan’s dare was to kiss Shawnee. After their date had already caught her attention, this was hardly going to be a relaxing spectator sport for Lachie.
His response was to kiss Ava when his turn came around. He admitted he made it extra spicy to annoy Shawnee, who was right there watching. Nothing says healthy communication quite like conducting an argument through someone else’s lips.
Shawnee was furious. But the challenge kiss was only the beginning of her problem, because Lachie’s interest in Ava did not end when the game did.
Zel Confesses To Making Up His Own Dare
Meanwhile, Zel pulled Amanda aside with a secret. During the challenge, he had performed a striptease with Layla. The twist was that the dare had never told him to do it.
He had invented it himself.
Zel explained that Layla was his type and he had not had the opportunity to explore that connection. Apparently, writing himself a more convenient challenge instruction was his solution.
Amanda was taken aback by the confession, and when the secret reached Layla, she was speechless too. What she had understood as part of the game was actually Zel engineering an opportunity. Being someone’s type is one thing; being the last person to learn the rules have changed is another.
Ava Gets The Joke Last
Ava’s own dare really did involve a three-way kiss with the other two bombshell boys. She went through with it, although the thought of her nan watching was enough to make the moment awkward for her.
Then Keanu announced that his instruction was to share a three-way kiss with anyone except Ava. He chose Shawnee and Layla.
Only afterwards did he reveal the actual dare: tell a joke.
Keanu found the switch funny. Ava did not. As the others laughed, she felt stupid and embarrassed, questioning why kissing two other women had been the first joke he reached for.
The reveal left Ava feeling humiliated. A challenge that was already testing everyone’s connections had given her a particularly unpleasant surprise from her own partner.
Shawnee Refuses To Be The Safety Net
Lachie, meanwhile, wanted to pursue Ava beyond the challenge. His proposed arrangement was that if there was nothing there, he could return to Shawnee.
Understandably, Shawnee was not thrilled by the offer of a place in the waiting room.
She said watching Lachie kiss Ava had made her feel sick. Now she was crying over the possibility of being somebody’s second choice, explaining that she had been through that before and did not want to be hurt again.
She was clear that she would not accept second best. Lachie might want to keep exploring, but Shawnee was the one left dealing with the cost of his options.
Another Bombshell Is Coming
The episode’s final tease promised a former Miss New Zealand arriving on Wednesday, apparently right up Jack’s street. With Natalie already invested in him, another bombshell is unlikely to make the Villa any calmer.
Love Island Australia continues tonight at 9.45pm on Nine and 9Now.
