In an interview with Chattr alongside teammate Simon, the Adelaide contestant questioned why Zoe entered My Kitchen Rules, saying he did not believe her stated aim of showcasing pescatarian food.
Angus suggested she was more interested in travelling and enjoying the experience. That is his interpretation of her motives, which Zoe has not endorsed.
He began by questioning whether a pescatarian should apply, then corrected himself to make the criticism specifically about Zoe. He argued that she could have engaged more with dishes she would not eat, including by smelling them or discussing the food.
Zoe And Zac Have A Different View
The NSW best friends have already pushed back against suggestions they do not belong. Zoe told TV WEEK that she expected a challenge, but had not expected such a hostile reception.
Zac said they completed the same casting process as everybody else. For the pair, being accepted onto the show should have settled whether they deserved their seats at the table.
Zoe also felt some contestants wanted to pressure her into eating meat. She was particularly disappointed by Simon’s response, saying she had expected a teacher to be more receptive to dietary differences.
A Disputed Dinner-Table Exchange
Angus challenged Zoe’s description of that pressure in his Chattr interview. He recalled a suggestion that she bring a plate closer to her face to smell the food, rather than an attempt to make her eat it.
He identified the exchange as part of Krysten and Lucy’s second Instant Restaurant, discussed in the article published on Monday. His account and Zoe’s recollection remain at odds.
Zoe and Zac have been clear about wanting their chance to cook. Angus has been equally clear about his frustration. Getting everybody through dinner without another debate about the menu may be the tougher challenge.
