Angus and Simon say the My Kitchen Rules cast group chat has brought old tensions back to life, as contestants watch what their rivals really thought of their meals.

Asked whether they were in the chat, the friends told Chattr: “Unfortunately, we are.”

Angus described it as a miniature version of the filming experience, with grievances resurfacing and a cast not exactly known for backing down finding itself in familiar territory.

“This group chat is like a microcosm of filming,” he said.

He explained that the teams did not know one another’s scores during the competition, so watching the episodes has delivered some unpleasant surprises.

“There have been a few micro explosions in the group chat and it’s actually gotten a bit ugly at some points,” Angus said.

Simon Says He Has Stopped Joining In

Simon is less interested in replaying arguments that cannot be resolved now.

He said it was disappointing to see the same complaints repeated about events in the past, and wanted the conversation to become more positive.

“I basically don’t even talk in there anymore because there isn’t much point,” he said. “They need to get over it!”

Their account adds to Krysten and Lucy’s description of a “spicy” cast chat. Lucy said people were questioning comments made behind their backs, while Krysten described unresolved problems from the table and kitchen.

Alisha and Deanne have also said there is more than one chat: the full cast conversation, plus smaller groups where people discuss the others.

Who Is Still Friends After MKR?

Not every post-show connection comes with an argument attached.

Krysten and Lucy said they still keep in touch with Harrison and Oliver and have spent time with them since the competition. Jane and Shane, and Sheridan and Ted, were not on their future catch-up list.

Mary and Golden, meanwhile, seem to have made a particularly good impression on their fellow contestants.

Tiffany and Giancarlo named them as the team they were closest to, with Tiffany pointing to their shared appreciation of cooking rooted in tradition.

Alisha and Deanne also named Mary and Golden as favourites, praising their humour and saying the two pairs recognised a similar loud friendship in each other.

They said they got along well with Krysten and Lucy too, crediting the mother and daughter with having their backs on the show. Their assessment of Tiffany and Giancarlo was considerably cooler: not their cup of tea.

As for their claim to be best friends with Jane and Shane? Alisha and Deanne quickly made clear that one was a joke.
