Rick and Tayla are at the centre of Woman’s Day’s claims of auction-day nerves behind the scenes, with unnamed insiders suggesting their House Five has attracted less interest than some of its neighbours.
The magazine claims producers are stepping up efforts to secure serious buyers for the Mount Eliza homes. It also raises concerns about Lisa and Rosco’s House Three, arguing that strong judging results might not translate into a sale.
Those claims have not been publicly confirmed by Nine or the teams in the material available. No auction result has been decided.
The Reserve Is Public, The Bidding Is Still To Come
There is at least one number the teams no longer have to guess. Shelley Craft revealed that all five The Block homes have a $3.45 million reserve, with price guides of $3.6 million to $3.9 million.
Speaking to Nine after the announcement, Shelley said she wanted dedicated buyers ready to compete for the properties. The houses offer bay views, pools and substantial living spaces, but the teams still need someone willing to put their hand up.
House Five has the biggest block, at 1435 square metres. Its larger footprint gives Rick and Tayla a selling point, even as Woman’s Day singles them out as a concern.
The contestants have already spoken about their own auction-day fears. Rick has acknowledged that a profit is never guaranteed, while Lisa and Rosco have backed the home they built.
More Than Money On The Line?
Woman’s Day also alleges that tension between Courtney and Sev and Adam and Jolene has resurfaced, and that separate wrap celebrations are being planned. Both claims rely on unnamed sources; the article provides no public confirmation from the teams or Nine.
For Rick and Tayla, the next verdict that matters will come from buyers. The biggest backyard on the site is ready to make its pitch, but a generous land size cannot raise a bidder’s paddle for them.
