The allegation comes from anonymous sources quoted by New Idea, which says uncertainty around a potential buyer has thrown the couple’s auction plans into doubt.

Nine and the contestants have not publicly confirmed an auction boycott. No buyer has been officially named, and the claims about Chantel and Wyatt’s plans remain unverified.

The Buyer Rumour Centres On A Family Connection

The article claims Chantel and Wyatt believed they had at least one serious buyer interested in their Mount Eliza home. Earlier speculation linked that interest to Gold Coast businessman Travers Beynon, who is married to one of Chantel’s sisters.

New Idea says a personal or family connection to a contestant would prevent that person from buying one of the season’s homes. The publication did not identify an official rule document or confirmation from Nine, so it remains unclear whether Beynon ever intended to bid or whether producers formally ruled him out.

An anonymous source claimed the possible buyer had been the couple’s lifeline and that being told to revisit the contract had put the plan in doubt.

The same source said Chantel and Wyatt feel “they just want to be done with it” after a season in which their clashes with production and other contestants have repeatedly become storylines.

Would Chantel And Wyatt Really Skip The Auction?

The article also claims Nine reminded the pair that their contractual commitments continue beyond the renovation and reportedly include an auction appearance.

That would make any boycott more complicated than simply deciding not to attend. Until Chantel, Wyatt or Nine addresses the story directly, the claim is best treated as an anonymous-source rumour rather than a confirmed plan.

The speculation follows signs that the couple have become increasingly separated from the rest of the cast since filming ended in May. New Idea says they left a group chat and stopped answering calls from fellow contestants.

That fits with an earlier cast update in which Lisa and Rosco said only four of the five teams were talking. They did not name the absent team, although Chantel and Wyatt were also missing from Nine’s 2027 Upfront event.

The Other Block Teams Are Nervous Too

Even without the boycott rumour, auction anxiety is spreading through the cast. The reserves have not been announced, but New Idea says they are expected to sit just below $4 million, with property experts estimating the sea views could add 20 to 25 per cent to the homes’ value.

Rick admitted every team could leave with “nothing” and said the housing “market’s scary at the moment”. He remains confident House Five’s larger floor plan gives him and Tayla a “very, very good chance” of a strong result.

Lisa and Rosco are also realistic about the risk of making no profit. They said they entered the competition with a “clear head” and would stand by their house even if the auction result failed to reward months of work.

Courtney and Sev have tried to separate the experience of making the show from the final sale. After applying repeatedly, their first goal was to renovate a house together and survive the competition itself.

Sev still described the 2025 auction as “heart-wrenching” after two properties failed to sell under the hammer, an outcome none of the new teams wants to repeat.

When Is The Block 2026 Auction?

Nine has not announced the 2026 auction date. New Idea expects it to fall in late October or early November, with the live finale traditionally airing on a Sunday.

Before then, the contestants still have houses to finish, reserves to learn and buyer campaigns to build. Whether Chantel and Wyatt are planning a final protest or simply keeping their distance will become much clearer when auction day arrives.
