The theory spread across the site, Danny Wallis delivered a brutal review and Adam and Jolene walked away with the money. It was a very Block way to end a week already packed with share-house tension.

The Buyer Theory Takes Off

Domain open-home day arrived with $50,000 on the line, and most teams were scrambling to make their houses buyer-ready. Chantel and Wyatt looked unusually calm, which was all Courtney and Sev needed to start joining dots.

Courtney wondered whether House 2 already had an Auction Day buyer lined up. Her theory centred on Chantel’s brother-in-law, Gold Coast businessman Travers ‘Candyman’ Beynon, and the pair’s relaxed response to recent judging feedback.

The idea quickly travelled to Rosco and Adam, then around the rest of the site. By the time the Cursio brothers asked Chantel and Wyatt directly, the rumour had become the main event.

They laughed it off and denied having a buyer locked in. Wyatt did admit it was not a bad idea, joking that he would ask Beynon to buy the house now. That was not exactly the firmest way to kill a conspiracy theory.

Danny Wallis Has His Say

After the final sign wars and a Christian Cole delivery, the potential buyers arrived. Around 50 people attended according to buyers advocate Frank Valentic, giving the teams their first meaningful look at how the market might respond.

Block regular Danny Wallis toured the houses with Scott Cam and voted for Adam and Jolene’s House 1. He was less enthusiastic about Houses 2 and 5, with the harshest verdict saved for Rick and Tayla.

‘This’ll be a cheap one,’ Danny said as he reached House 5, adding that he did not even need to see downstairs. A hug from Tayla was not enough to improve the review.

Frank saw the contest very differently. He put Chantel and Wyatt’s House 2 first, followed closely by Lisa and Rosco’s House 3. With two experienced buyers landing on opposite favourites, Auction Day suddenly looked even harder to predict.

House 4 Gets The Copycat Label

While the votes were being counted, barista Tina brought Adam and Jolene some fresh gossip. Courtney and Sev’s living-room re-do used the same mirror-and-fireplace combination as House 1.

Adam chose to see it as a compliment. Jolene went with ‘copycats’, which felt much more in keeping with the mood of the week.

The accusation also completed a storyline that had been brewing since Courtney and Sev first revealed their re-do plans. Inspiration is flattering right up until there is $50,000 attached to the result.

Adam And Jolene Win The Domain Prize

Scott finally revealed the public vote, and House 1 claimed a clear victory. Adam and Jolene finished on 29 per cent, ahead of Lisa and Rosco on 23 per cent and Chantel and Wyatt on 20 per cent.

Rick and Tayla received 15 per cent, while Courtney and Sev finished on 13 per cent. The buyer conspiracy had dominated the evening, but the actual vote belonged to Adam and Jolene.

The celebration came with a slightly awkward morning-after. Jolene said Lisa and Rosco were the only team to congratulate them, leaving the result to speak rather loudly for itself.

Shelley Craft and Domain’s Alice Stolz then took the winners to lunch and told them they had the best house on The Block. Just in case the $50,000 was not enough, Adam and Jolene also received a secret bonus-point gnome necklace.

House 1 may have won Domain night, but Danny and Frank’s wildly different picks proved the bigger Auction Day question is still completely open.

The Block continues Monday at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.
