It was the sharpest moment in an episode that began with rooms, prizes and a looming Domain challenge, then somehow ended with the humble gym sink becoming the newest front in the share house war.

Jolene Is Not Sold On Courtney And Sev’s Win

Week 9 is all about the Kids Bedroom and a Re-do Room, with a sizeable stack of prize money up for grabs across the week. Before the contestants could get fully stuck in, Courtney and Sev were still enjoying the glow of their Rumpus Room and Laundry victory.

Not everyone was feeling the same enthusiasm. During the Domain open-for-inspections visit, Jolene took issue with the winning room’s finishes and called the overall result a dog’s breakfast. Lisa also found a detail she felt had slipped past the judges.

That reaction made it clear that Courtney and Sev’s win was not just a scorecard result. It gave the other teams something to argue about before the next round of work had properly begun.

The Re-do Rooms Bring A $50,000 Twist

Scott Cam then handed out the rooms each house will revisit. Adam and Jolene returned to their Week 1 Guest Bedroom, Chantel and Wyatt took on their Week 5 Living and Dining Room, Lisa and Rosco were sent back to their Week 6 Guest Suite, while Courtney and Sev and Rick and Tayla both drew their Week 5 Living and Dining Rooms.

The work also feeds into Thursday night’s Domain Listing and Buyer’s Jury Open House. The house that earns the most votes will collect $50,000 in cash and land the cover of Domain magazine, which is a useful reward at any point in the competition and an especially handy one this close to the finish line.

A Copying Question Is Already Brewing

Courtney and Sev’s plan for their Re-do Room includes a fireplace, a mirror wall and, ideally, a Christian Cole dining table. The problem is that the direction bears a noticeable resemblance to Adam and Jolene’s earlier winning Living and Dining Room.

Sev framed it as inspiration, but he was already bracing for criticism from a particular neighbour. Given Jolene’s earlier assessment of their winning room, it did not feel like a wild prediction.

The tension also fits with the wider cast friction that has followed the teams beyond the worksite. Lisa and Rosco previously said only four teams were talking, and Tuesday’s smaller conflict suggested the shared living arrangement is not making things any smoother.

The Protein Powder Protest

The argument with Chantel and Wyatt was less about one dirty bowl than the build-up behind it. Jolene was frustrated that the pair had left the gym without cleaning the communal mess, after taking care of only their own plates.

Her response was to tip Wyatt’s protein powder into the bin and leave a message calling out the state of the sink. Jolene saw it as a push for everyone to do their part. From the outside, it looked like a domestic dispute that had been waiting for the smallest possible spark.

With a high-stakes open house ahead, the houses still need to look polished. The people inside them, however, are running a little less smoothly.

The Block continues tonight at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.
