With disqualification suddenly on the table, the House 4 pair had a choice: lose the cellar or find the money somewhere else. Naturally, that decision was not going to stay simple for long.
The Cellar Becomes A Crisis
After a run of judging complaints, the teams began the week convinced that Chantel and Wyatt should have taken the latest win. But there was little time to dwell on it. Everyone was racing to build a 'secret weapon', and wine cellars quickly became the unexpected must-have.
Jolene was not thrilled to discover that Robby and Mat were also planning one. Still, it was Courtney and Sev's version that caused the real panic when executive producer Julian Cress dropped by House 4 to question their dwindling cash.
The warning was stark: they could not install things they could not afford. Courtney and Sev initially made the emotional call to cancel the cellar, with Sev ringing the supplier to pull the order.
That lasted only a few hours. Courtney decided the cellar was worth keeping, so the pair chose to cut their landscaping budget instead. Landscaper Troy Lovett pointed out that the move would leave very little money for next week's labour, but House 4 was prepared to take the risk.
Rosco's Patience Runs Out
House 3 was having a rough day of its own. Lisa and Rosco finally had an excavator working in their yard before their neighbours, only for the machine to end up at House 2 after the Cursios weighed in.
Rosco was furious that no one had spoken to him first, and it was hard to blame him. On a site where every hour of machinery time matters, watching the digger roll away was never going to land well.
Jolene And Wyatt Clash Again
Jolene's day did not improve when Wyatt needed to move concrete through House 2's courtyard. His alternatives were going through her home or around the side of House 1, and the access plan turned into another awkward conversation between the neighbours.
Wyatt pushed back after Jolene asked why he had not discussed it with her, saying he did not want another accusation that he had intimidated her. By this point, a straightforward job had become exactly the kind of argument Backyard and Garage Week seems built to produce.
A Very Strange Family Dinner
Jolene was feeling unwell, so Adam invited Rosco to join him on the winners' getaway. Back at the Block, the remaining contestants sat down with 2023 winners Steph and Gian for family dinner.
It should have been a handy chance to hear from the show's biggest winners, but Tayla's rapid-fire questions made the room awkward before she capped off the meal with an ill-timed fart. Not every masterclass needs a takeaway.
The Block continues tonight at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.
