That was only one problem on a day when Foreman Dan warned that all five houses were in danger of not being finished. With outdoor spaces, pools and decks all still demanding attention, nobody was exactly cruising towards Sunday.
Dan's Warning Lands Early
The morning was already awkward for Adam and Jolene, who were carpooling with Rick and Tayla. Once everyone reached site, Dan's bigger concern became clear: the teams had serious work left and their decking needed changes around the pools.
Courtney was not thrilled to hear it. She branded the late decking adjustment a 'stitch-up', which is not a word that has ever improved the mood on this site.
The pressure has been building for days, including the fallout from a rooftop-plan revelation that had the whole site talking. Episode 40 simply found a fresh way to make every neighbour suspicious of the next one.
The Pool-Tile Fight Gets Personal
House 5's tiles had been delivered to House 2 the day before, and Chantel's team had already begun installing them when the mistake was noticed. Chantel chose not to rip up a completed pool just because the tiles belonged elsewhere.
Tayla wanted them removed, making a beeline for Chantel during a coffee break to demand a fix. The catch was that there were enough tiles left for House 5's pool anyway, turning a full-scale blow-up into one very awkward anti-climax.
Cash, Chores And A Share-House Screening
Before the tile drama took over, Tayla had put herself forward for the hard-worker award while planning a facial. Rick got the cash instead, though Tayla still got the facial, so it was not exactly a total loss.
Scott Cam kept the backyard spending spree rolling by handing over gifts requested by landscapers after Monday's $50,000 boost. He also made it clear that the first team to actually finish might win the week almost by default.
Then came the share-house barbecue and the annual moment when contestants watch their own early footage. Wyatt's collection of nicknames got an airing, while Courtney's real job came out, proving that even a quiet dinner can become dangerous territory on The Block.
The Block continues Sunday at 7.00pm on Nine and 9Now.
