There was mud, a makeshift tollgate, a missing-stepper dispute and a trivia night that proved sport knowledge is not necessarily a Blockhead superpower. Somehow, it all still ended with Adam and Jolene celebrating again.

Courtney And Sev's Budget Gets Even Tighter

Courtney and Sev were already staring down the bill that had put their final week under pressure. Their landscaper Troy Lovett estimated a cost of more than $40,000, while the couple had just $20,000 left to spend.

That meant another big redesign at exactly the wrong time, especially with $50,000 off an auction reserve up for grabs. Their front yard was suddenly a lot less about dream finishes and a lot more about what could actually be afforded.

The pressure followed on from the $20,000 bill that hit Courtney and Sev's final week, but their on-site relationship with Troy had become noticeably frosty as the numbers kept climbing.

Adam Opens The Mount Eliza Tollgate

The uptown houses had a separate logistical problem. With the soil and rock for the front yards sitting near House 1, Houses 2 and 3 needed to get through Adam and Jolene's yard unless they wanted to wheelbarrow everything through completed homes.

Adam saw an opportunity and declared a Mount Eliza tollgate. He managed to collect $10 from one neighbour, but the rest of the street simply kept moving. A bold business model, if not an especially profitable one.

The Getaway Actually Goes Smoothly

After the final family dinner, joint winners Adam and Jolene and Courtney and Sev headed off on their prize getaway together. Given the history between the two houses, Scott Cam had every reason to expect an awkward meal.

Instead, both pairs leaned into the fresh start. Adam even wrote a song for the occasion, and the two couples appeared determined to prove that the old friction had not followed them to dinner.

The next morning, Adam and Courtney returned to site early while Jolene and Sev stayed back for breakfast. For one brief moment, the sharehouse tension seemed to have found a quiet corner.

Wyatt Has Had Enough

Back on site, Wyatt was not enjoying the final push. While Lisa kept working next door despite being heavily pregnant, he admitted he was struggling to find the motivation to keep going and wanted the tools put down immediately.

It was not a walkout, but it was a very clear sign that the finish line could not arrive fast enough for House 2. The final week has a way of turning every wheelbarrow trip into a personal grievance.

Then came the steppers. Troy believed House 2 had taken some of his stock, and a count showed the team had 30 more than it had ordered. Fifteen went across to House 4, settling the problem in the most Block-like way possible: with a very particular bit of maths.

Adam And Jolene Take The Trivia Money

The day's last chance to win money came through a $10,000 Stan Sport trivia night. Nobody looked entirely confident heading in, and the questions soon confirmed why.

Houses 1 and 3 finished tied, sending the result to a shootout. Adam and Jolene took it out, adding another $10,000 to the couple's increasingly healthy final-week position.

Wyatt may have wanted tools down, but Adam and Jolene had one more reason to keep the good mood going.

The Block continues tonight at 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.
