Nine has confirmed in its 2027 programming slate that The Block: The House Next Door will premiere on Stan. The companion series will bring back fan-favourite contestants to renovate a sixth property beside the five homes featured on The Block.
The network is keeping the returning teams secret, so Chattr asked a long list of former Blockheads whether they would be willing to do it all again. Most of them did not need much convincing.
Tanya And Vito Want A Redemption Run
Tanya and Vito once believed their difficult 2021 season had closed the door on a return. Time has changed their minds.
The couple told Chattr they would accept if asked, despite doubting producers would make the call. They insisted they have nothing left to prove, but admitted that "redemption is always nice".
For Tanya and Vito, a second season would be a chance to show viewers more of who they are away from the controversy that defined their original run. They are also still prepared to defend that sunken lounge.
Several Fan Favourites Are Keeping The Door Open
Eliza and Liberty said they would "absolutely froth the opportunity", although they believe producers may choose teams with stronger design credentials first.
Ronnie and Georgia have already competed twice, but they were intrigued by the heritage-restoration focus and refused to rule out a third appearance. Kristy and Brett also said they loved their time on the show and are interested to see how the spin-off develops.
Kyle and Leslie were similarly open to a conversation. They joked that quietly finishing a house, getting along with everyone and avoiding drama may not have made them the most obvious television choice, but they now have more renovations behind them and a better idea of what the experience demands.
One unnamed team offered the most suspicious answer of all: "Top secret."
Robby And Mat Are Waiting For The Phone
Robby said he and Mat had been too busy with family and business to sit down and discuss the new series properly. Their response landed somewhere between interest and a very sensible decision not to renovate an imaginary house before anyone has called.
Kirsty and Jesse are also reconsidering an old promise never to return. Kirsty said the scale of their 2021 build, the constant drama and the death of her grandmother during filming made the season extraordinarily difficult.
She would be interested in experiencing The Block again with less conflict, although Jesse may require more persuasion.
Jimmy And Tam Would Rather Give Someone Else A Turn
Jimmy and Tam were the clearest no, at least for now. Tam said their 2020 season changed their lives and opened doors, leaving them grateful for what they had already experienced.
Instead of chasing another run, they would prefer to "let someone else have their turn". It was not an absolute never, but it was the closest thing Chattr received to a polite decline.
The Actual Cast Is Still Under Wraps
None of these comments confirms that a former team has been cast. Nine has announced the format, but not the Blockheads who will be appearing on the show.
Reality Recap has already broken down the 2027 Sunbury season and its Stan spin-off. With so many past contestants volunteering for another round, the bigger challenge may be deciding which fan favourites to leave out.
