Tuesday night's episode gave Seven another busy run of big backstories, big vocals and coaches trying to make their last team spots count. Bertie Anderson became one of the night's standout names, Brooklyn Sauer turned a terrifying life experience into an emotional audition, Madeline Beckett made a powerful return to performing, and Tones And I quietly kept building her secret second-chance squad.

Honestly, the other coaches are going to need a minute when they finally find out how many artists Tones has been collecting backstage.

Bertie Anderson Swaps The Pilbara For The Voice Stage

FIFO worker Bertie Anderson walked into the Blind Auditions with a life story that already sounded like it belonged in a reality TV package.

The 37-year-old Mandurah singer had spent 15 years working fly-in fly-out in Western Australia, using the job to support his music before deciding to quit and properly chase the dream. That is quite the career pivot, but if you are going to make a grand life swing, doing it under the big red chairs is certainly one way to commit.

Bertie performed Usher's Caught Up and managed to turn three chairs, giving him a very handy problem: multiple coaches wanted him.

Kate Miller-Heidke made the strongest move, blocking Melanie C before Bertie could choose her. Melanie still praised his natural cool on stage, while Kate pushed hard for him with compliments about his "rock solid" vocals and versatility.

In the end, Kate's block did exactly what it was supposed to do. Bertie joined Team Kate, and the Blind Auditions got another late-stage contender with serious stage ease.

Brooklyn Sauer Brings An Emotional Story To The Stage

The episode also introduced 15-year-old Brooklyn Sauer, whose audition came with one of the night's heaviest backstories.

Brooklyn survived a shark attack in 2024 after being dragged underwater while swimming with friends off the Queensland coast. She was later airlifted to Brisbane Children's Hospital and needed extensive treatment for more than 40 puncture wounds.

After that, music became her safe place. Brooklyn performed Lady Gaga's Always Remember Us This Way, and the emotion in the room was not exactly subtle.

She earned two chair turns, with Ronan Keating using a block on Richard Marx before Brooklyn chose Team Ronan. Brutal for Richard, excellent for Ronan, and another reminder that blocks are The Voice's most polite form of sabotage.

Madeline Beckett Comes Back After A Decade Away

Madeline Beckett then gave the episode its big comeback moment.

The 35-year-old had been away from performing for 10 years, with performance anxiety making it difficult for her to return to the stage. For her Blind Audition, she chose Janis Joplin's Piece Of My Heart, which is not exactly the musical equivalent of dipping one toe in the pool.

It worked. Madeline earned three chairs and left the coaches visibly rattled in the best possible way.

Kate Miller-Heidke called it "Holy crap, what a moment", while Melanie C drew on her own experience with stage fright and told Madeline, "You aced it." Ronan also questioned why a voice like hers had been hidden away for so long.

Madeline chose Team Kate, giving Kate another strong addition as the Blind Auditions edged closer to the finish line.

Tones And I Makes Two More Secret Saves

While the main coaches were busy filling their teams in the usual dramatic-chair fashion, Tones And I was still operating her secret fifth-coach operation from the shadows.

This time, she saved two artists who did not turn chairs: Carla Venkatya and Megan Donnelly.

Carla, 18, performed ABBA's The Winner Takes It All, and Richard Marx admitted he regretted not turning for her. Megan, 29, performed Maggie Rogers' Light On, with the coaches feeling nerves may have affected what she was able to show in the room.

For most seasons, that would have been the end of the road. This year, Tones is lurking backstage with the reality TV equivalent of a spare key.

Carla and Megan joined Team Tones And I, bringing her secret team to 10 artists. The group now includes Red Roy, Jamie Koul, Lilita Keni, Dicko, Georgia Dabbous, Cris J, Mikayla Durrant, Moniquewa Williams, Carla Venkatya and Megan Donnelly.

The fun part is that the other coaches still do not fully know what is coming. Tones' team is set to be revealed to them on Sunday, which should be a tidy little chaos delivery right before the next stage of the competition.
